European law firm Fieldfisher has advised Haydale Graphene Industries plc on its initial public offering on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM).

European law firm Fieldfisher has advised Haydale Graphene Industries plc on its initial public offering on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). The listing raised £6.6m for Haydale, which has a market capitalisation of approximately £23m.

Haydale has developed a manufacturing process which improves the performance of graphene products. Graphene is an exciting, recently discovered material with exceptional mechanical and physical properties. Haydale's technology improves the functionality and hence the potential commercial applications of graphene and other nano materials. The technology and materials involved are cutting edge.

Both public and private sectors are investing significant resources into graphene research. Next year the National Graphene Institute will open in Manchester, and several British universities are also setting up research centres. In addition, the European Union launched a €1bn research programme earlier this year.

Fieldfisher's team was led by corporate partner Neil Matthews and comprised employment partner Margaret Davis, dispute resolution partner Jonathan Ray-Smith and real estate and environmental partner John Bowman. They were assisted by real estate senior associate John Downs, real estate and environmental associate Claire Brodrick, commercial IP associate John Eley, corporate solicitor Julian Grant and employment solicitor Angharad Schell.

Neil Matthews said: "We are delighted to assist Haydale with its IPO. Haydale is a cutting edge business, and our knowledge and experience of AIM listings and the depth of our cross-departmental expertise enabled us to guide them through this process successfully."

Ray Gibbs, Haydale Chief Executive Officer added: "Neil and his team were excellent throughout the project and worked tirelessly to get the deal over the line. They always delivered timely and astute advice; Haydale made the right choice instructing Fieldfisher and I can thoroughly recommend them."
