Renzo Marchini joins Fieldfisher's market leading privacy team

European law firm Fieldfisher has hired Renzo Marchini as a partner in its Privacy, Security and Information practice. He joins from Dechert, where he was special counsel and led the European data protection practice.

As well as being a data protection and cybersecurity expert Renzo has a deep understanding of the tech sector having worked as a software engineer before becoming a lawyer and he advises clients from across a range of industries, including financial services and technology – two of Fieldfisher's key areas of focus. He is author of Cloud Computing: A Practical Introduction to the Legal Issues.

Renzo advises on the full range of data protection matters including international compliance strategies, privacy impact assessments, and cybersecurity and data breaches.

Fieldfisher's Privacy, Security and Information team is market leading, offering international coverage and advising a broad range of clients on global and business-critical privacy and data protection projects.

Hazel Grant, head of Fieldfisher's Privacy, Security and Information practice, said: "We have ambitious plans for the growth of what is already a market-leading group. Renzo is an established expert in this field and he will undoubtedly be a great addition to our London team of 15 full time privacy lawyers."

Renzo's joining follows on closely from Fieldfisher announcing its new strategy, with technology a key sector priority for the firm.

Speaking of his move Renzo said: "Fieldfisher is well known to be a leading law firm for the technology sector and its expertise in data privacy – where it has one of the largest teams in Europe – is particularly well-regarded.

"The firm's vision for the growth of its data privacy team, and broader technology group, fits well with my own objectives and I'm looking forward to contributing to the future success of the firm.  It is an exciting time for the firm and these practices and I am delighted to be joining them."

Rob Shooter, who heads Fieldfisher's Technology Group, added: "Renzo is joining what is one of, if not the biggest, data privacy teams of any major law firm and he will be a first rate addition to a team that provides clients – all around the world - with top class advice in a crucial and fast-paced area of law."

Renzo starts at Fieldfisher today, 12th September 2016.
