Access Social Care

Borne out of a successful pro bono clinic with Fieldfisher and Mencap, Access Social Care (ASC) is a pioneering organisation that drives social justice by representing disabled people to ensure their right to care is realised. In the UK, funding for social care has been drastically cut under austerity measures. The social care crisis means 75% of councils are not confident they can meet their legal duties to provide care in 2022/23, leaving thousands without vital support. Through the 'Right to Care' clinic with ASC, Fieldfisher is providing legal advice and representation to disabled people who are being denied the right social care support.

Support via this clinic provides much needed additional resource to our legal team. This enables us to support more families who are often grappling with complex and urgent situations on their own. The volunteers at Fieldfisher are extremely committed to the clients they support and this shows in the outstanding results they have achieved.

I felt understood. I felt my views were heard… I felt terrified yet supported by those around me… I had a voice in the mightiest court in the land.

I know for a fact that had you not been involved with the case, I would have had to return to work with no resolution for my brother's care needs.
