Julia Hamilton, Partner, Clinical Negligence
I am a clinical negligence lawyer with over 15 years’ experience in dealing with a wide variety of clinical negligence cases.
I have particular expertise in handling claims involving injuries of the utmost severity including brain injuries in both adults and children, cerebral palsy and cases involving amputation, surgical injuries, meningitis, loss of vision, spinal, orthopaedic and brachial plexus injuries and delays in diagnosing cancer.
I am a member of the law society’s clinical negligence specialist accreditation panel for clinical negligence and a member of the association of personal injury lawyers. I am dedicated to achieving the best results for my clients and am described as ‘having a really calm and well prepared way’ (Chambers 2018) and ‘handles the most serious cases with aplomb; she has a good record of seeing difficult cases through to a successful conclusion’ (Legal 500 2019).
My experience in claimant clinical negligence work has involved me working with clients to successfully pursue claims in cases involving severe brain injury particularly children with cerebral palsy as well as brain tumours, strokes and haemorrhage. Other cases include life changing injuries such as amputation, brachial plexus injuries or spinal injuries.
When working for a child who had sustained extensive and life changing bowel injury, we successfully pursued a mediation before exchange of quantum evidence bring about a conclusion for the family and an excellent settlement and avoiding trial. The litigation had been difficult for the family and the resolution at this stage was important.
In my spare time I enjoy walking with my dog, spending time in the Lake District and watching football.
