Richard Todd, Partner, Derivatives and Structured Finance

Richard Todd, Partner, Derivatives and Structured Finance, Fieldfisher

I am a partner in the structured finance group specialising in securitisation.  I have over 15 years' experience representing arrangers, lenders, sponsors, issuers and originators on structured finance transactions and focus primarily on securitisation and asset warehousing facilities funded via asset backed commercial paper (ABCP) conduits. With particular expertise in structuring multi-jurisdictional and cross-border receivables financing transactions, my expertise covers a wide range of asset classes including trade receivables, auto loans, auto leases, rental fleets, equipment leasing, consumer loans, telecommunications-related receivables and residential mortgage loans.  I also advise banks and borrowers in connection with receivables financing and purchase facilities, including supply chain finance programmes and asset based lending.

I was ranked as a leading individual in securitisation by the Legal 500 UK in both 2015 and 2016, who describe me as "a standout lawyer for asset-backed commercial paper conduit-financed securitisations".

In addition, I have extensive experience relating to Russia’s emerging markets, the former Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe, having worked for a number of years as in-house counsel to a leading Russian investment bank. Prior to joining Fieldfisher in 2016, I practised at another international law firm, having previously worked as in-house counsel to the conduit securitisation team of a leading UK retail bank.
