Harjeet Sandhu, Senior Associate, Contentious Financial Services
I am a senior associate in the financial services and funds group's litigation practice, working alongside Duncan Black. I joined Fieldfisher in March 2012, from a magic circle firm. Prior to joining Fieldfisher, I also spent considerable time working in-house in the litigation team of a major investment bank, specialising in swaps disputes. I have extensive experience of acting for hedge funds, and both for and against banks, in disputes relating to fraud, misrepresentation and mis-selling of derivatives and structured products. I also have experience of advising clients in relation to regulatory financial services disputes.
My trial experience includes representing a major retail bank in the 'bank charges' case, representing hedge funds in misrepresentation and breach of contract cases against banks and other hedge funds, and advising clients in various Lehman Brothers litigations, including working on the Lehman client money case. Many of my cases involve an international element and are complex multi-jurisdictional disputes. I have experience of all aspects of litigation and trial preparation, in cases before the High Court in London and in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands.
My litigation experience covers court proceedings, arbitrations, regulatory investigations, mediations, negotiation and settlement. The focus of the practice at Fieldfisher is on resolving problems faced by financial services clients and handling their disputes, whether that is through trial litigation or early negotiation and settlement.
I am a fluent Punjabi speaker.
