Natasha Rao, Solicitor, Intellectual property

Natasha Rao, Solicitor, Intellectual property, Fieldfisher

I am a Solicitor in the IP Litigation & Enforcement team.

I have broad advisory and litigation experience in respect of patents, trade secrets, regulatory matters, and trade marks. I have represented clients previously in the High Court in patent and trade secrets litigation, and most recently acted in a complex copyright / database rights trial. I have also given discrete advice on a number of regulatory issues, including medical devices, alcohol labelling, and advertising regulations.

Prior to joining Fieldfisher in April 2019, I trained and practised IP law at a Magic Circle firm in London. In this capacity, I acted for several high profile pharmaceutical and retail companies in the Life Sciences and Consumer sectors.

I was part of the team acting for Eli Lilly in Eli Lilly v Genentech [2019] EWHC 388 (Pat), a complex patent infringement case which also involved fundamental regulatory issues (and subsequent to which the 'Third Party SPC' point has been referred to the CJEU).

I recently attained the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice with Merit at the University of Oxford. I have also written a number of articles for IPKat (a popular IP law blog) and the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice (JIPLP) and am an active member of IPSoc (the society for junior IP practitioners).

In my spare time I enjoy singing and musical theatre and most recently performed in a production of Guys & Dolls at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
