Antony Phillips, Partner, Real Estate Litigation
I head our Real Estate Practice at Fieldfisher and also sit on the firm's Executive Committee.
I deal exclusively with contentious (and potentially contentious) issues relating to commercial, mixed use and residential property. This includes dilapidations claims, rent reviews and other landlord and tenant disputes, real property disputes (including covenants, easements and ownership issues), development issues (including rights of light, party walls and boundaries), contentious planning disputes, property related insolvency issues and secured lending disputes. An increasing amount of my work relates to dispute avoidance, as well as litigation and arbitration.
I am a Solicitor Advocate (Higher Courts Civil) with wide experience as an advocate in the High Court and County Courts. I am also an Associate of the Institute of Arbitrators and a trained CEDR representative in Mediations.
I am a past Chairman of the Property Litigation Association, the association of contentious property solicitors. I am also a past Chairman of the Dilapidations Forum of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
I have sat on the RICS Boundaries and Party Walls Working Group. I also lecture and write widely on contentious property issues. I have written articles in a wide range of publications, including Estates Gazette, Property Week and The Times (property and legal sections). I have also written chapters on ‘trespass’, ‘boundaries’ and ‘nuisance’ in e-books published by RICS Books.
Chambers UK 2015 says that I am "a good communicator and a reassuring presence at the helm"
