I am a Associate and a science graduate with particular experience in life sciences and technology sectors.
My main area of practice is commercialisation of intellectual property. I assist clients with putting in place key contracts for development of their product pipeline, such as research and collaboration agreements and transfers of intellectual property assets.
Before starting my legal career, I was a scientist. I have a degree in pharmacology and I spent two years in research, first working on a laboratory research project in pain signaling at the Heidelberg University, then on an interdisciplinary study into physiological responses to literature at the University of Manchester.
This is why, I focus mainly on the life sciences and technology sectors. My work in the life sciences sector includes advising on clinical trial and R&D agreements and regulatory strategy when entering the UK market. My experience in the technology sector includes working on secondment at a large cloud services provider, advising on acquisition of rights in software and procurement of IT services. I often get to combine the two, when advising life sciences companies looking to pair their medical devices with software, such as a mobile application, Artificial Intelligence or a neural network.
I also advise on the regulatory status of products in the life sciences space. I have particular experience in advising clients who work at the interface of science and mobile technology, such as health apps developers. For example, working in tandem with the Life Sciences team at Fieldfisher, I co-ordinated provision of comprehensive advice to a medical devices manufacturer looking to expand into the UK market, which covered:
- an overview of the regulatory and commercial landscape in the UK – as would affect their product and services;
- an assessment of whether their business model is compatible with this legal framework; and
- recommendations on what changes would be required.
As part of that, I provided comprehensive advice on regulation of medical devices and general consumer law. I like to think that together with the client, we have contributed to development of the regulation in the area of deployment of Artificial Intelligence in medical diagnosis and cross-border telemedicine in the UK (both previously unchartered territories), as on the basis of our advice, the client has engaged with the regulators to discuss their approach to regulating such cutting-edge services.
I enjoy getting to know my clients: from where you go in terms of your corporate strategy to how you like your documents formatted. This allows me to give you a more tailored service. Clients say about me: "Brings immense talent and great personality to the team."
I am a member of IPSoc, a society for junior IP practitioners. I have recently spoken at the Fieldfisher's Medical Devices Workshop on the regulatory position of mobile apps.
I am fluent in Polish and German.
