Nicola Margiotta, Senior Associate, Public Regulatory
I am a senior associate in the public and regulatory law group. I am currently working full-time with the Solicitor's team at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, where I am the investigation lawyer for the Lambeth investigation and am assisting on the Westminster investigation.
I have experience of litigating cases from the county court through to Supreme Court, often acting in cases which were high value, complex and dealt with novel legal issues. I have provided advice to clients on the interpretation of legislation, drafted and revised policies and advised on complex multi-disciplinary projects. I have experience in responding to Government consultations, including legislative changes and judicial practice notes, and am well placed to assist with advising on what impact proposed changes may have, working collaboratively with clients during the process and advising on alternative proposals.
I have experience of s.13 Coroners Act 1988 Applications, a somewhat niche area of practice, but of great importance to those who are involved. I am readily able to assist in responding to such applications and well versed in the applicable statutory criteria.
I am known for providing pragmatic advice to clients that highlights legal risk and enables decision makers to make legally robust decisions. I am able to draw on my experience to identify lessons learned and make recommendations for future decision making and suggest amendments to policies or procedures.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing hockey, cycling and reading.
