I am a barrister specialising in contentious tax and commercial disputes. I have a wide range of experience working with corporate clients ranging from SMEs to MNEs in the retail, insurance, legal tech and financial services sectors as well as HNW and UHNW individuals, trustees and beneficiaries of trusts.
I have acted in IR 35 cases, pension charges and surcharges litigation before the Tax Tribunals, and worked on complex domicile enquiries, HMRC disclosures, international investigations, as well as COP8 and COP9 enquiries focusing on achieving good outcomes for clients.
I have experience working on cases in courts and tribunals at all levels, from the First-tier Tribunal to the Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice. I also advise clients in relation to UNCITRAL, SCC and LCIA arbitration both in private and state-investor disputes, including applications for emergency relief against a state. Recently, I advised on a multi-million pound restitution claim against a major investment bank.
As a native-level German speaker, I have particular experience delivering solutions in complex cross-border issues involving a number of jurisdictions and legal systems and often work with German speaking clients and teams of lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions. While on secondment to Germany in 2018/2019, I advised a successful German business extensively on Brexit preparations. Recently, I also gained particular experience advising clients in relation to jurisdiction issues arising in commercial and consumer claims.
I spend my free time playing the cello, cooking and travelling.
