Scott Hogan, Associate, IP and Technology, Protection and Enforcement
I am a lawyer in our Intellectual Property and Technology Protection and Enforcement group.
I qualified as a solicitor in Australia in 2011, and initially worked in a specialist intellectual property practice. I then moved to a top tier Australian firm and provided corporate advisory services, before relocating to London and joining Fieldfisher in 2013.
I primarily advise on soft IP issues (anti-counterfeiting, trade marks, passing off and copyright), and IT and franchising disputes.
My clients, based both in the UK and abroad, tend to be from an array of industry sectors including retail, banking and finance, technology and media (including film).
My recent experience includes assisting a large UK bank to terminate a network of third party contracts (including defending various court actions), advising an international investment business on extracting itself from a failing software development project and settling a personal guarantor dispute for a franchisee at mediation.
I am a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and IPSoc (a society for junior IP practitioners). I give anti-counterfeiting lectures to University of Cambridge students. I regularly attend IP and IT related conferences and I contribute to various professional publications and the firm's 'SnIPpets' intellectual property blog.
Outside of work, I can be found scouring either: London for its best coffee; or a golf course looking for my wayward ball.
