Richard Hing, Senior Associate (New Zealand qualified), IP and Technology, Protection and Enforcement
I am a Senior Associate (New Zealand Qualified) in the IP team at Fieldfisher.
I have particular expertise in a wide range of trade mark, design and domain name matters, including prosecution, enforcement, border protection and opposition, revocation and invalidity actions. I advise clients on pre-filing trade mark and design matters through to post-registration actions.
I work with clients in a wide range of sectors, including video games, entertainment, industrial equipment, apparel, fashion, technology, software and retail. Recent examples of work include: advising a well-known apparel company on design rights before the General Court and Court of Justice of the European Union, leading negotiations on behalf of a prominent video game developer in a set of related trade mark oppositions involving over 15 EU member states, and acting for a leading UK based retailer in a number of successful domain name proceedings before the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Prior to joining Fieldfisher in June 2011, I worked for a specialist intellectual property firm in New Zealand and have also practiced at a leading firm in Sydney, Australia.
Outside of work, I can be found playing basketball and touch rugby. I am also a keen supporter of the All Blacks.
