Lisa Hatfield, Associate, Regulatory
I am a competition and EU regulatory lawyer in the Regulatory Group. I advise public authorities and private companies on the full spectrum of competition law matters including cartel investigations by the European Commission and CMA, mergers and acquisitions, vertical restraints and the structuring of internal compliance frameworks.
I have a strong background in investigations and a particular focus on counselling clients through investigations by competition authorities.
I recently acted as the lead associate representing a client involved in the European Commission’s cartel investigation into Maritime Car Carriers. The case concluded by way of settlement and was the 26th settlement case since the procedure was introduced.
Building on my practical experience of cartel investigations and advising companies on follow-on damages claims, I also recently completed a Masters Degree in EU Competition Law through King's College London. My dissertation considered the position of England and Wales as a leading jurisdiction for private enforcement of cartels following Brexit.
I also advise on state aid issues, public procurement procedure and EU regulatory issues. With regard to regulatory matters, I have particular expertise in the food and beverage sector and regularly work with clients to help them bring their products to market.
I was pleased to be recommended in the 2017 edition of Legal 500.
In addition to admission as a solicitor in England and Wales, I am also admitted as a solicitor in Ireland to ensure the seamless representation of clients at the highest level following Brexit.
