Janice Houghton, Associate, Tax and Structuring
I am an associate working in the tax and structuring group in London.
I advise companies and business owners on a wide range of corporate tax issues - on M&A transactions, business transfers and company reorganisations, and also advise in the context of debt financing.
I work with colleagues in all practice areas of the firm and across a variety of sectors to address tax considerations and ensure that tax risks are allocated with proper contractual protection.
I co-author certain VAT chapters in Revenue Law: Principles and Practice and I have in the past contributed material to LexisPSL regarding the taxation of bonds and articles to Global Tax Weekly on the UK's statutory residence test.
Before becoming a solicitor I was a civil servant, with experience working at HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office and the Export Credits Guarantee Department.
I speak English, French and German.
