Daniel Hayward, Partner, Dispute Resolution
I am a Partner specialising in commercial disputes with an international or cross-border element. I have a reputation for providing sensible, timely, strategic advice and identifying legal solutions that get results as quickly as possible. I have significant experience acting in major disputes linked with the Russia/CIS region, and advising large international companies and HNW individuals on a variety of business critical issues including contractual, shareholder, fraud, negligence, regulatory and whistle blower disputes around the world.
I act for clients in the English High Court, before international arbitration tribunals (LCIA, ICC, SCC and ad hoc), and in support of legal proceedings in other jurisdictions. I have been double ranked in the UK and Russia sections of the Chambers Global directory for the last 4 years for my CIS work and particularly for my: "expertise [in] advising international clients on Russian disputes" and being: "...extremely dedicated...". I often act for technology, media, retail, ENR and financial service sector clients.
I have been involved in a number of cases that have set important precedents in various jurisdictions, including in relation to the law regarding the enforcement of English court judgments abroad and circumstances when arbitral awards can be successfully challenged in the English High Court. I have also spent a period of time on secondment in the EU legal team for one of the world's biggest online retail, logistics and technology businesses where I managed a wide-variety of international contentious and non-contentious projects as part of that role.
I am a regular speaker at Russian and CIS Arbitration Network (RCAN) events, where I am the current elected Secretary. I am also a member of the LCIA's Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) and the London Solicitors Litigation Association (LSLA).
I am a Russian speaker.
In my spare time I like cycling, playing cricket, and (now) watching rugby (and encouraging these passions in my son).
