I am the UK Head of EPIC (Employment, Pensions, Immigration and Compliance), which is based across three locations in the UK - London, Birmingham and Manchester.
I have over 20 years' experience as an employment lawyer, including being an owner and director of a business, and I am currently a member of the firm's Executive Committee. This means that I understand the challenges faced when running a business and the need for legal services to be delivered in a commercial, pragmatic and responsive way. I pride myself on "getting the job done" and approach issues in a creative way. I am a trusted business advisor for a number of clients in different industry sectors, many of whom I have worked with since I qualified as a lawyer.
While I enjoy advising on all aspects of employment law, I have a particular focus on helping businesses manage change - be it setting up a new office in the UK or abroad, dismissing employees, restructuring, or managing relationships with trade unions and works councils. I also have many years' experience of successfully defending employers against litigation whether brought by an individual or a group of employees. The most recent class actions I have worked on have been in relation to TUPE and equal pay.
I am regularly invited by clients to undertake bespoke training on a wide range of topics, and I often carry out training alongside specialists in areas which overlap with employment law, such as medical experts.
I would like to hear from any employers with queries regarding UK employment law, including those based outside the UK, who would like a clear interpretation and opinion on the UK employment landscape.
