I head up our leading trade mark and brand protection team and am based in our London office. I am qualified as a lawyer in New Zealand (1997) and England & Wales (2006) and graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand with the degrees Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws. I work across multiple industry sectors including energy and natural resources, financial institutions; hotels and leisure; retail; life sciences and healthcare; and technology, media and telecommunications.
I have over 15 years' domestic and international experience advising clients in relation to their intellectual property and commercial requirements. This includes worldwide trade mark and design clearance, filing and prosecution; contentious registry proceedings including bringing and defending trade mark opposition, invalidity and revocation actions throughout the world; trade mark licensing, exploitation and commercialisation; settlement, co-existence agreements and dispute resolution, managing IP litigation internationally.
I have represented a number of household name clients in protecting their brands from infringement. My practice is truly international and I regularly work for clients on their intellectual property matters in the European Union, North America, Middle East, China and the Far East, Asia Pacific.
I am an active committee member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and sit on The Trademark Reporter committee. I regularly attend the INTA annual and INTA leadership meetings.
In the legal directories, I have been recommended in Legal 500 and am described in a recent edition of the Legal 500 as 'able to understand business needs and come back with effective solutions'.
I have spoken widely and commented and published articles in Licensing Executives Society (LES) NewsXchange; Intellectual Property Magazine, World Trademark Review, Managing Intellectual Property and World Intellectual Property Review and our own blog 'SnIPpets'.
In my spare time I enjoy a variety of sports including rugby, cricket and snow skiing. I enjoy spending time in the countryside and travelling abroad with my young family.
