Helen Andrews, Partner, Construction, Fieldfisher

I am a specialist construction lawyer with over ten years’ experience, advising clients across a wide range of contentious and non-contentious construction law matters. I typically act for developers, main contractors, specialist sub-contractors, funders, consultants and end-user occupiers across both the public and private sector.

I have extensive experience of using standard form construction and engineering contracts (including JCT, NEC, ICE, IChemE and FICIC based forms) as well as drafting and negotiating bespoke construction agreements including consultant appointments, development agreements and ancillary documentation. I am also skilled in providing procurement advice and I regularly advise on high value and complex construction projects, particularly of a mixed-use, commercial and residential development, student accommodation, retail, healthcare, education and hotel and leisure nature.

I am also experienced in construction dispute analysis, management, prosecution and defence utilising adjudication, litigation, arbitration, mediation and other forms of ADR. I have been involved in a number of reported cases (including Oakrock Limited v Travelodge Hotels Ltd & Others [2014] EWHC 1868 (TCC) and Vivergo Fuels v Redhall Engineering Solutions [2013] EWHC 4030 (TCC)) and recently successfully defended a multi-million pound arbitration for a public sector defence organisation arising out of a sale and development agreement.

Clients have endorsed my proactive and no-nonsense approach to legal advice and my excellent client service.

In my spare time I enjoy playing netball and tennis and supporting Wolverhampton Wanderers FC (for my sins).
