Fieldfisher hires new Co-head of Oil and Gas
Paul Stockley joins the firm from Womble Bond Dickinson to help steer Fieldfisher's oil and gas team, as the firm continues to expand its flagship Energy and Natural Resources group.
European law firm Fieldfisher has hired leading oil and gas specialist Paul Stockley to join its Energy and Natural Resources Group in London.
Paul will join the firm as Co-head of Oil and Gas in November.
He was previously Head of Oil and Gas at Womble Bond Dickinson and has over 20 years' experience acting for leading oil and gas companies, both in the UK and internationally.
He also previously worked in-house at Hess Corporation and, on secondment, at Shell.
With extensive sector knowledge gained from working on various transactions and projects in the UKCS and across the world, Paul's experience covers the full exploration and production cycle.
Paul's appointment will further boost Fieldfisher’s growing reputation as a one of the leading law firms advising oil and gas companies at a pivotal time for the global hydrocarbons sector.
His recruitment follows a number of significant investments Fieldfisher has made in its internationally-spread Energy and Natural Resources Group in recent years and further cements its position as one of the key mid-market firms for oil and gas expertise.
Dominic Gurney-Champion , Co-head of Energy and Natural Resources at Fieldfisher, said:
"We are delighted to welcome someone of Paul's calibre to Fieldfisher.
"We are seeing increasing activity for the firm in the oil and gas space, together with a significant escalation in the size and complexity of the deals we are working on – Paul's experience will be invaluable in helping to meet our client's needs in this area."
Stuart Carter, Co-head of Oil and Gas at Fieldfisher, added:
"Paul's appointment represents our continued commitment to entrenching Fieldfisher as the firm of choice for energy and natural resources clients, both in the UK and internationally.
"I look forward to working with Paul to co-steer the firm's Oil and Gas practice, as we continue to build a market-leading reputation for the work we are doing in this sector."
Paul Stockley said:
"I am pleased to be joining the energy team at Fieldfisher at such an exciting time in its development.
"The firm's reputation for all forms of energy and natural resources work is already well-established across the industry and I am encouraged by its ambitious plans for future growth.
"I look forward to being a part of those plans, leveraging off a tremendous brand and platform."
