Fieldfisher advises South London craft brewery on a strategic partnership with Heineken
European law firm Fieldfisher has advised South London craft brewery, Brixton Brewery Limited on a strategic partnership with Heineken UK.
The strategic partnership and investment will enable Brixton Brewery to remain in Brixton and move to a larger brewing site, increasing its brewing capacity from 12,000 pints a week to 60,000. The company will have greater control over the process and retain its strong community focus.
Fieldfisher advised on all aspects of the transaction including negotiating and executing the terms of the investment and shareholder and governance arrangements, which sees Heineken take a minority equity stake in the business with the founders retaining overall control.
The multi-disciplinary team was led by Corporate Director Tom Ward, and included invaluable assistance from Dave Hill and Rachel Rigg (Corporate), Robin Spender and Laura Fielder (Banking & Finance), Andrew Loan (Tax), Vicky Reinhardt (Commercial IP) and Hastings Guise (IP Protection). Kreos Consulting acted as financial adviser to Brixton Brewery and the founders.
Commenting on the transaction, Brixton Brewery's Finance Director, Mike Ross, said: " We have been nothing but impressed by Fieldfisher every step of the way, from rock solid IP advice through to its relentless efforts and dedication on all aspects of this deal."
Relationship partner James Seadon (IP & Technology) comments: "We have a strong relationship with the beverage sector, focused on key areas such as brand protection and corporate work. Having worked with Brixton Brewery as it has grown we were delighted to help it navigate this stage of its journey, and look forward to its continuing success."
