We were very pleased to be able to run such an important conference to focus on how best to support those with severe facial injury, both medically and legally, and to provide patients and clients with better access to rehabilitation.
Continual advances in areas such as reconstruction, 3D planning, plastic surgery and dental restoration have huge impact on a person's recovery, as do early psychological interventions and cosmetic treatments such as laser, camouflage and scar management.
The day-long conference provided a forum to hear from those performing the surgeries and after-care - from Kings College, Royal London and the Chelsea and Westminster hospital - and from patients themselves, including the hugely inspirational Gina Van Dort, a victim of the Tunisia Terrorist attack in 2015, who was shot through the chin and lost her husband in the attack.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who gave up their time to share knowledge and generate greater understanding of this topic. The feedback from attendees was excellent and inspires us to run further events. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.
