When a FTSE 100 client asked whether we could help migrate its desktop infrastructure to the cloud, they knew expert advice would be crucial. Their ground-breaking project had to provide a robust and flexible platform for nearly 40,000 users worldwide.
That was in late 2011, and even back then we could demonstrate the value we bring. We had accumulated significant experience advising pioneering cloud providers and users. Indeed, we had become leading commentators, anticipating the importance of the cloud as an emerging technology.
Within 24 hours of being appointed, we had advised on how to overcome significant regulatory concerns. We went on to plan a negotiating approach and to agree key terms with a dozen of the biggest global suppliers. We established appropriate positions around privacy, Sarbanes-Oxley, security, acceptable use, confidentiality and exit.
We have gone on to do a range of other work with our client and are proud that the project director told us "Thanks… for doing a great job on this project. The work and expertise … are exceptional and Fieldfisher remains at the top of my list for outside legal services."
Cloud services are revolutionising the way we procure IT by saving money, allowing flexibility and opening up new ways to collaborate. We have continued to accumulate market leading experience, bridging the gap between cloud provider standard terms and customer governance requirements. From working opposite dozens of service providers (and acting for some of them), we understand what can be negotiated. Where service provider terms must be accepted, we can help make a balanced assessment of the risks and how to manage them.
We're also G-Cloud experts.
