The legal and regulatory environment in which today’s companies operate is increasingly complex as regulators get both more interventionist and collaborative. Penalties are becoming more severe and small markets can have a wider impact than initially be foreseen; sanctions can be criminal and fines can be personal.
We advise on the whole range of UK, French, German, Belgian, Italian and EU competition law issues and devise innovative and successful legal solutions to the problems that our diverse client base presents. We work on matters including mergers, joint ventures, state aid, licensing and distribution, litigation, UK and EU regulatory investigations, third party challenges to restrictive practices, parallel importation problems and public procurement. We also have one of the EU's leading international trade practices.
In the unfortunate event of challenge by either authorities or private parties, we have a wealth of experience in robustly defending clients before both the courts and regulators. We have extensive experience in cartel cases; advising on audits and raids and helping our clients secure immunity or conduct litigation.
Our open working practices mean we form strong relationships with you and your in-house legal team, so we become trusted advisers and can provide the innovative solutions you need.

We are leading advisers in major international cartel investigations (including the Maritime Car Carriers investigation, Liner Shipping investigation, several auto parts cases and the recently published Occupant Safety Systems cartel case) where we continue to assist clients to minimize any exposure to fines through leniency and settlement programmes. We also played a key role in the now-leading case on disclosure of the European Commission's decision to claimants in cartel damages claims which is likely to have an important impact on the strategy and tactics of future claims.
We are advising several defendants in multiple private damages claims in the UK and across Europe. We are pursuing private damages claims in a number of cases. We obtained the first ever Norwich Pharmacal (third party disclosure) order in a competition case and are acting for numerous potential cartel claimants in the UK, Germany and Italy.
With regard to compliance, we act for a number of major high-profile clients and have developed for clients audit programmes which are proportionate and risk based in order to deliver value whilst being cost and time efficient.
