Jausas advised the major shareholders of insurance business Grupo Previsora Bilbaina on its sale to Grupo Catalana Occidente for €74 million. A Grupo Catalana Occidente statement said it had made the acquisition to “strengthen its competitive position in funeral insurance business”. It added that the deal would enable Grupo Catalana Occidente to “increase its territorial presence and implementation along the Cantabrian coast, where Grupo Previsora Bilbaina has 24 offices and more than 200,000 policyholders”. The Jausas team advising on the transaction was led by partners María Luisa de Alarcón and Nieves Briz. Grupo Previsora Bilbaina was also advised by Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira on the deal, according to Mergermarket.
