Faltec Europe Limited v Health and Safety Executive

 

[2019] EWCA Crim 520, 28/03/2019
The company appealed against the fine of £1.6m imposed in respect of three Health and Safety offences (an outbreak of Legionnaire's Disease and an explosion on its premises).

Injury:  One worker suffered four fractured ribs, a punctured lung, and muscular contusions to outer right thigh. The other suffered a fractured skull, muscular injuries to right leg and injuries inside ear

Injury:  Multiple injuries including several fractured ribs, fractures to back and a punctured lung.

Leicestershire company fined for health and safety failings after worker seriously injured

Injury:  Burn injuries to the inside of right arm, the top of right hand, the inside of left arm, and the right-hand side of face. The worker also had burns to hair, eyelashes, eyebrows and beard.
