My experiences working in the US have given me a strong understanding of transatlantic data privacy issues, and a lot of my work focuses on helping US businesses navigate EU (and global) data protection compliance issues.
My personal specialisms are in data privacy, digital media and disruptive technologies. In particular, I advise regularly on large global data transfer projects, internal information governance and accountability structures, and data protection risk management in the context of EU inward investment. A lot of my work also relates to behavioural targeting, product compliance and privacy by design. Outside of data privacy, I advise on a wide range of EU digital media, consumer protection and technology-related issues.
I am recognised as a data protection expert in Chambers and Who's Who Legal, and advise predominantly private sector clients in the technology and life sciences sectors – ranging from leading brand mobile device manufacturers to medical devices companies, interactive entertainment platform providers to games publishers, and cloud service providers to app developers.
I run Fieldfisher's 'Privacy and Information Law' blog and co-authored the IAPP's European Privacy: Law and Practice for Data Protection Professionals and Wolter Kluwers' Global Privacy and Security Laws. I speak regularly at a wide variety of events, including IAPP conferences, the Association of Corporate Counsel's IT Privacy & e-Commerce Committee meetings, and at events organised by DataGuidance.
In addition, I hold Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Program Manager (CIPM) status, and am a member of the IAPP's Privacy Faculty.
In my spare time (when I have some!), I relax by playing with my kids, collecting Batman comics, and playing any video game that includes zombies, aliens or – ideally – both.
