My legal interests and focus areas include cartel matters (including private damages actions), competition compliance, merger control, commercial agreements, distribution, agency and franchise arrangements, IT contracts, consumer regulatory issues, EU free movement and state aid rules, export control and sanctions, BIT/trade law issues, India in/out transactions and Netherlands SPVs for international projects/investments. I drafted one of the first private law satellite licensing agreements in the Netherlands and in 2016 successfully acted (at first instance) in respect of a standalone competition law claim. I have obtained merger control clearances for various complex transactions notified to the European Commission and the Dutch ACM.
I have extensive experience (both transactional and contentious) in advising businesses on their cross-border contracting, routes to market, supply, pricing, co-operation and acquisition strategies and regulatory requirements.
I deal with authorities in the Netherlands, UK, India, as well as with the European Commission, and act for both transacting and opposing parties, I have worked with clients in a wide range of sectors, including consumer goods/retail/e-commerce, TMT, industrials/chemicals, life sciences/healthcare, energy, and hotels. I have written various articles and briefings and have co-authored a chapter on Public vs Private Enforcement in The Public Competition Enforcement Review, Edition 8 (2016).

I have lived in seven countries in Europe, North & South America, Africa & Asia. In addition to English and Dutch, I speak Hindi, Punjabi, French and basic Danish.
I studied law in Edinburgh, Leiden and London. My legal career began at CMS Cameron McKenna in London in 2002 followed by Clifford Chance in Amsterdam in 2006. Prior to Fieldfisher, I was a partner and shareholder at Eversheds Sutherland in Amsterdam.
