I have been in practice as a solicitor since 1980. For 30 years I was in private practice as a partner in a firm where I specialised in litigation including civil, criminal, military courts martial and administrative law (judicial reviews) and constitutional law. Also from 1985 through 2012 I was standing solicitor retained by the South Eastern health board /HSE and Tusla for all legal work involving child protection in the courts and as adviser to many statutory and non-statutory inquiries.
I commenced work as Head of Regulatory Legal Services in 2015 with the Law Society of Ireland and served in that role for 7 years and in that capacity I gained considerable experience in all aspects of regulatory law including case managing large volumes of disciplinary cases and court applications and appearances/advocacy and drafting of legal regulations and rules of procedure.
