My experience has included bringing applications before the High Court and the Commercial Court, defending appeals in the Supreme Court and more recently the Court of Appeal.  In addition to being proficient in the insolvency provisions of the Companies Act and Bankruptcy Act, I have extensive experience in employment law, in particular advising liquidators and receivers on redundancy and other workplace relations matters.

I have earned a name as a leading advisor to insolvency practitioners and frequently represent liquidators and receivers in the Chancery List, the Examiner's Court List and Bankruptcy List in the High Court.

My instructions have included bringing applications before the High Court for receiver injunctions. I have also defended employment injunctions in the High Court and employee claims in the Workplace Relations Commission.

Liquidations and receiverships often give rise to complex questions in land law and I am experienced in dealing with such matters as and when required.

Among my more notable cases are the following:
  • Obtaining an injunction on behalf of a receiver to gain vacant possession of a commercial premises;
  • Successfully defending an appeal brought by a debtor in the Supreme Court against the appointment of a receiver;
  • Procuring the dismissal of an appeal brought by a debtor in the Court of Appeal against an order for possession;
  • Acting for the Official Assignee in bankruptcy cases;
  • Defeating an employment injunction application brought by a senior employee in the High Court in a receivership matter;
  • Advising the directors of a company in obtaining an order of the High Court appointing an examiner to the company;
  •  Prosecuting and defending restriction applications against directors of insolvent companies;
  • Acting for a local authority in defeating a claim in the High Court for adverse possession;
  • Obtaining an order in the Commercial Court against a Cayman Islands company for the removal of a non-consensual interest wrongly registered in the International Registry against an Airbus aircraft under the provisions of the Cape Town Convention.

Prior to obtaining a postgraduate qualification in law from DIT and qualifying as a solicitor and member of the Law Society of Ireland, I obtained an MBA degree from Trinity College Dublin, where I won the Sir Charles Harvey Award for best student.  Having worked in the aviation industry and in the mergers & acquisitions sector prior to becoming a lawyer, I combine business experience with legal knowledge in advising clients.
