Lawyer Silvia López has joined Fieldfisher JAUSAS as of 5 November as partner and chief of the Real Estate Department in Madrid.

Her appointment comes as part of the European firm’s expansion plan in Spain.

Specialising in transactions relating to the sale and purchase of all types of real estate, and with extensive experience in advising companies on legal matters, corporate governance, compliance and corporate social responsibility, López joins Fieldfisher JAUSAS following her time as General Counsel and Secretary of the Council of Neinor Homes, SA, a leading property developer in Spain.

López has also held executive positions in the legal departments of Sociedad de Gestión de Activos procedentes de la Reestructuración Bancaria (SAREB) – the Spanish government-owned company responsible for managing assets transferred by Spanish financial institutions following their nationalisation in the wake of the global banking crisis, and Virgin Active, as well as having worked for law firms, Garrigues and DLA Piper.

López says: “The work philosophy of Fieldfisher JAUSAS will allow me to continue to offer professional, close and quality advice on real estate matters.”

“I wish to contribute to the development of the real estate practice in Fieldfisher JAUSAS, a firm that has proven to be a top-level player in key sectors, thanks to its pragmatic and innovative approach.”

Agustí Bou, managing partner at Fieldfisher JAUSAS, says: “Silvia has recognised professional expertise in the real estate sector, where she has participated in highly complex transactions.”

“Her appointment reflects Fieldfisher JAUSAS’ desire to continue to implement its strategic growth plan, following the merger of JAUSAS with European law firm, Fieldfisher. The addition of Silvia represents a new milestone in the development of our strategic plan, of which one of the main priorities is strengthening the practice in Madrid in those areas that are key in this geographic market – in this case, real estate.”
