European law firm Fieldfisher has appointed leading competition, commercial and regulatory lawyer Manish Bahl as a partner in its growing Amsterdam office.  Manish joins from Eversheds Sutherland, where he was a partner, and prior to that he was at CMS and Clifford Chance.

Manish is a dual Netherlands and UK registered lawyer who specialises in core competition/anti-trust, commercial contracting and regulatory matters, advising clients in sectors including consumer goods/retail/e-commerce, TMT, industrials/chemicals, life sciences/healthcare, energy and hotels, acting for transacting and opposing parties. He has extensive experience (both transactional and contentious) in advising businesses on their routes to market, supply, pricing and co-operation/acquisition strategies and regulatory requirements.

Manish will also lead the firm's India Group advising on inbound and outbound matters for both Indian and foreign clients. Manish is individually recommended by Chambers Global 2016 for his India related work.

Prior to Eversheds Sutherland, Manish was at CMS Cameron McKenna in London from 2002 and Clifford Chance in Amsterdam from 2006.  He studied law in Edinburgh, Leiden and London.

Manish Bahl, commented: "As a successful law firm with a proven growth strategy, an impeccable profile and a strong reputation in  competition and commercial law, Fieldfisher is the natural platform for me.  The firm has a teamwork ethos and a culture which genuinely promotes excellence and diversity.  It is a perfect cultural fit and provides me with the best possible environment in which to provide the highest quality service to my clients and further develop business in Europe,  India and elsewhere.

"I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues and leveraging synergies to provide top notch commercially focused legal advice; to consolidate Fieldfisher's launch in the Netherlands; and to take advantage of the increasing opportunities in the Dutch market in the run up to and after Brexit."

Marcel Willems, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Amsterdam, adds: "Manish brings with him vast experience having advised blue chip clients all over the world on a wide range of matters.  Competition and regulatory issues are especially important currently with Brexit looming and new trade deals being pursued between the EU and other nations.  Amsterdam is a hub for sectors including TMT, energy, life sciences and tech and being part of Fieldfisher is already helping us to win cross border work advising clients on transactions coming into Netherlands and Dutch clients on transactions in other international locations."

Fieldfisher opened in Amsterdam on 1st May 2017 with five partners joining from Kennedy Van der Laan.  It focuses on corporate, finance and insolvency, business structuring (including inward investment), commercial contracts, competition & regulatory, compliance and governance and corporate litigation.
