Firm advises Gazprombank on the acquisition of a holding in Energie du Porcien SAS
On 22 May 2012, a subsidiary of GPB (OJSC) acquired a 21.74% interest in Energie du Porcien SAS along with Akuo Energy SAS.
Energie du porcien owns and operates two wind farms in France in the Ardennes and Champagne regions with a total capacity of 39MW. Both farms were successfully put into service at the end of 2011.
Akuo Energy SAS remains the majority shareholder in Energie du porcien SAS.
GPB (OJSC) and Akuo Energy SAS have the intention of creating a long-term partnership in the renewable energy sector in Europe and Russia.
Wolfgang Skribot, Executive Director responsible for the Direct Investments in Energy and Infrastructure Department said, "The development of alternative energy and green projects in Russia is a real opportunity for us. The acquisition of a shareholding in Energie du Porcien is a first step for us in developing a business project concerning renewable energy in Europe, where the market has actively expanded in the last 20 years".
GPB (OJSC) is the third largest bank in Russia. It invests in companies working in key sectors in Russia and on a worldwide level. The acquisition of a stake in Energie du Porcien SAS is GPB's first investment in the renewable energy sector in Europe.
Akuo Energy SAS is an independent French group currently developing, building and operating several power stations running on renewable energy sources. Akuo Energy SAS has 33 operational projects for a total capacity of 435,2 MW and a hundred development projects, representing a total power capacity of 2,879.5 MW.
Akuo Energy SAS has offices in France, Poland, Turkey, Uruguay, Croatia, Montenegro, Indonesia and in the United States and is currently developing further projects in these countries.
