Fieldfisher has been named Law Firm of the Year 2017 at the British Legal Awards held at Finsbury Square in the City of London.

The awards were hosted by Legal Week in association with The City of London Law Society and are one of the most prestigious and competitive legal awards in Europe.

Over 1,000 lawyers, clients & employees, journalists & suppliers attended the event representing the cream of the UK's legal community.

Law Firm of the Year was the last award of the evening with Fieldfisher winning ahead of finalists Allen & Overy, Clyde & Co, CMS, Gateley, Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins and Osborne Clarke.

Fieldfisher was recognised for a remarkable period of growth with increases in revenue and profit and the winning of new high profile clients and ongoing success for existing clients.  Expansion in the UK, across Europe and in China, as well as its embrace of new technology and its long established commitment to diversity and CSR were also factors.  Its innovative approach to legal solutions was highlighted by its investment in and the growth of Condor Alternative Legal Solutions.

Managing partner, Michael Chissick, comments: "This is a tremendous achievement which recognises the commitment we all have to our clients, to our colleagues and to the communities in which we work.  The last financial year was very successful and I hope that this current year will be even better.  I think the best of Fieldfisher is still ahead of us and I would like to thank every single person who has helped us win this outstanding award."

The British Legal Awards were the culmination of a new two-day event, Legal Week Connect, which saw a host of law firm leaders, general counsel, technology and innovation heads meet to explore a wide range of issues driving innovation, disruption and change in the profession.

The award follows on from recognition including Law Firm of the year in Western Germany 2017 and the Juve Awards and Condor Alternative Legal Solutions winning the FT Innovative Lawyers Award for Best New Business and Service Delivery Model.
