Fieldfisher has merged with the 18 partner Birmingham firm that specialises in corporate, litigation, real estate and employment law.

European law firm Fieldfisher today announces it will merge with leading commercial law firm Hill Hofstetter.  Hill Hofstetter is a commercial firm specialising in Corporate, Litigation, Real Estate and Employment law with a turnover last year of more than £6m.  The 18 partner firm, based in London and Birmingham, was founded in 2008 after it demerged from Reed Smith.

The merger is a natural evolution for both firms built upon a relationship established over several years.

Fieldfisher and Hill Hofstetter have ambitious growth plans, and the merged firm is already planning on moving to modern premises in Birmingham in April 2017.  Those currently based in Hill Hofstetter's London office, will move into Fieldfisher's London offices.

Commenting on the merger Michael Chissick, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher says: "Currently over 80% of Hill Hofstetter's work is generated by companies with European and international headquarters. Its outstanding experience of high level corporate and commercial European work means the team will fit seamlessly into the Fieldfisher brand.   It will also bring further strength and depth in areas such as Corporate, Litigation, Real Estate and Employment law.

"Expansion throughout Europe remains a key focus for our new strategy, and we look forward to Hill Hofstetter supporting us in our goals, by strengthening our presence in the UK."

Chris Hill, Founding Partner of Hill Hofstetter, adds: "We have known and worked with Fieldfisher over many years and the quality of work and vision was a natural fit.  When we decided the next step in our growth was a merger, we only thought of and spoke to one firm.  We wanted to increase our international capabilities and the firm's European focus made perfect sense for our European and global client base.  We are looking forward to working with Fieldfisher and introducing our clients to the many strong service lines and sectors at Fieldfisher."
