European law firm Fieldfisher is expanding fast in Manchester and taking over the third floor of the Free Trade Exchange building on Peter Street in the heart of the city centre.

The offices now occupy the first, fourth and fifth floors of this iconic building with the 5,700sqft expansion coming after Fieldfisher Manchester reached over 100 employees.

Fieldfisher Manchester now has 13 partners and is soon to add another with the appointment of a new head of corporate, David Bowcock, former head of corporate at Brabners.

These changes have come after turnover for the Manchester office grew from £2 million to £11m in three years, an increase of 450%.

The European law firm also saw global revenues across its nine offices reach £165m in 2016/17, up from £145m the previous year. Legal Business magazine recently ranked Fieldfisher as the UK's fastest growing law firm.

Fieldfisher's Manchester office specialises in litigation, real estate, real estate finance, corporate, technology, regulatory, employment, intellectual property and insolvency, working for regional and international clients.  The office has seen significant growth with recent appointments in the tech, real estate and dispute resolution teams and further recruitment expected as the firm continues to land high profile client instructions.

Ian Austin, Managing Partner of the Manchester office comments:

“Over the past six to 12 months we have hired the best in class in a number of departments, building on the wealth of experience we already in place. Our takeover of another floor in the Free Trade Exchange building is a reflection of this, and growth is only set to continue into next year and beyond.

"With the recently announced appointment of real estate partner Krista Powell, we hit the landmark of employing 100 people here in Manchester, which is no mean feat.”

He added: “We believe that our ever expanding office and recent hires will give us an even better platform to expand our presence in the Manchester market during the rest of 2017, into 2018 and beyond."

Managing Partner of Fieldfisher, Michael Chissick, comments:

"The expansion in Manchester is a reflection of the strength of the firm in the UK as well as the growth of the firm internationally. Manchester is recognised as a leading European business destination and Fieldfisher is keen to build on its existing business in the North West and will continue to invest in the team".

Will Lewis of OBI Property was the advisor on this acquisition. OBI has worked closely with Fieldfisher throughout the project.
