11th July 2022: Fieldfisher has brought together a new team of legal professionals to advise clients on all legal matters in the area of digital health. The international Digital Health Group, comprised of 40 digital health lawyers across multiple jurisdictions and practice areas, is being led from the firm's London office by partner Sarah Ellson.

The move by Fieldfisher comes as the global digital health market, valued at US$175.6 billion in 2021 and projected to grow at a rate of 27.7% from 2022 to 2030*, continues to face new operational and legal issues. Areas such as big data, blockchain, cybersecurity, wearable tech, digital therapies, virtual clinical trials, telehealth, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics are increasingly being adopted across all areas of health services development and patient care.

Commenting on the launch, Sarah Ellson said, "The digital health market is growing rapidly and innovating in areas that are as new as they are exciting. However, as the industry continues to expand it raises complex new legal and business questions and issues – not least in the use of robotics, AI and the provision of healthcare across geographical boundaries for example.

"Our new group brings together an unrivalled wealth of talent and experience that answers this need for our clients. I am delighted to be working alongside colleagues from offices across our international network to grow and develop our Digital Health Group."

                                                                       Robert Shooter

Fieldfisher's Managing Partner, Robert Shooter added, "The formation of our new Digital Health Group is a great example of Fieldfisher's forward thinking approach to helping our clients. We mould how we work to best assist our client base, thinking ahead to anticipate and meet the day to day business challenges they face.  I wish the team every success as they develop and grow in this exciting new area."
