Fieldfisher has further strengthened its new Luxembourg office with the appointment of Richard Ledain Santiago, a partner with more than 12 years' experience specialising in corporate/M&A, private equity and finance.

Richard joins Fieldfisher from Allen & Overy in Luxembourg, where he advised a broad range of local and international clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, structuring of international transactions, reorganisations (including in distressed situations), securitization and corporate finance.

Richard also brings significant expertise in structured and asset finance, with a special focus on aircraft finance, real estate and capital market matters.

Richard holds a Ph.D. in law, a master's degree in finance and accounting and is a tri-registered solicitor in England & Wales (2011), Luxembourg (2010) and Paris (2005).

A fluent Spanish and French speaker, Richard has worked for firms in Paris and Luxembourg and was a lecturer in corporate, warranties and bankruptcy law at the University of Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne and Evry Val-d’Essonne from 2004 to 2008, and regularly publishes articles in these areas.

He joins Fieldfisher at an exciting time for the firm, which is rapidly expanding and recently launched its Luxembourg office to focus on new finance, regulatory compliance, corporate and funds.

The office is headed by Ingrid Dubourdieu, Country Managing Partner for Fieldfisher in Luxembourg.

Commenting on Richard's appointment, Ms Dubourdieu said: "We are delighted to welcome Richard to the firm as we broaden our service offering in Luxembourg to include new specialisms, including corporate M&A. Such high calibre lateral hires enable us to capture the growing demand for corporate M&A and finance in Luxembourg and across Europe. I look forward to working with Richard as we continue to enhance the range and versatility of our Luxembourg office, where we plan to add further specialisms in the near future with a view to satisfying Fieldfisher's client needs. "

Michael Chissick, Managing Partner, Fieldfisher, comments: "The addition of Richard to the Luxembourg team is excellent news for our firm as we continue to grow the office to include a wider range of corporate services for companies particularly those in  the finance sector.  We are excited to welcome Richard to Fieldfisher and to benefit from his expertise. Luxembourg marked Fieldfisher's ninth jurisdiction and 20th office, following its most recent launches in Netherlands in May 2017 and our new Frankfurt office in April. The mix of core finance, digital and corporate services provided by these new offices is a perfect match for any pan-European activity."
