Fieldfisher has advised BuzzFeed, a US-based internet media company and a leading online news and entertainment site, on the sale of its 51% majority stake in Le HuffPost to the French media group Le Monde.

The Le Monde group, which includes the national daily newspaper as well as publications such as Télérama, Courrier International, and Le Monde diplomatique, also previously held a 34% stake in the HuffPost website, the French version of the American site of the same name.

Created in 2005 in the United States, the Huffington Post is one of the pioneers of free online news pure players. It was launched in France in 2012, headed by the internationally known journalist Anne Sinclair. The site quickly established itself in the French media landscape. It became a key player in the online press, particularly with a young audience, which is one of the Group's development axes for the years to come.

With around 30 journalists, the Huffpost occupies a special place in the media ecosystem.

Fieldfisher's team consisted of partner Christopher Mesnooh and associate Sébastien Nanteuil.
