Fieldfisher offers guidance on European privacy in new

Fieldfisher’s Privacy and Information Law Group has authored a book which offers data protection professionals practical guidance on European privacy laws.

The publication, entitled, European Privacy: Law and Practice for Data Protection Professionals is published by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the global representative body for data protection officers.  It is also the main reference text for the Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) programme.  The book covers essential topics including:

  • The context of European data protection law
  • Data protection concepts, principles and application
  • European data protection practices related to employment, surveillance, direct marketing and outsourcing
  • Internet technology and communications

Eduardo Ustaran, Head of Fieldfisher’s Privacy and Information Law Group, said:  “This book is a unique source of reference for European data protection professionals.  At a time when data protection is such a business critical issue and given the emphasis on training and awareness, European Privacy aims to provide practical answers to many of the challenges faced by our clients.”

“Producing this guidance has been a real team effort as every single member of the group has contributed a chapter to the book which shows the breadth and depth of our practice.”

Fieldfisher’s international, 17-lawyer Privacy and Information Law Group is the largest practice in Europe concentrating solely on data protection issues and has a leading reputation for advising on data security.
