Video about cyclists is unhelpful and does not explain the whole picture

A video has been released by the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association showing cyclists jumping red lights on London's streets in an attempt to explain a number of recent accidents and near misses. Whilst it is important that cyclists obey road traffic laws, we believe this video contributes little to the debate and instead inflames it when the figures show that only 2% of accidents between cyclists and other vehicles are attributable to cyclists going through red lights. Over two-thirds of these accidents are found to be the fault of the driver and none of the recent tragic deaths in London are believed to have come about as a result of a cyclist jumping a red light.#

You can read more about this story in the London Evening Standard and the Huffington Post.

Jill Greenfield made an appearance on the ITV news last night to debate this with the General Secretary of the LTDA. You can view the debate here.
