National Disability Day: Jenny Buchanan and Lewis Ayre join 82-year-old client in O2 Arena Climb

03/12/2021
Today (3rd December) marks National Disability Day and to mark the work and achievements of everyone affected by disability, Jenny Buchanan and Lewis Ayre will join a formidable client Gulshan Billimoria in her courageous climb of the O2 with the Limbless Association.

Gulshan, who is 82, was involved in a devastating bus collision last year at the junction of Regent Street and Oxford Circus. She was left with very serious injuries and underwent a through- knee amputation. She was left with massive degloving injury of her right leg and with significant soft tissue injury, plus spinal fractures. At one point she was told she was unlikely to be able to walk again.

After 13 surgeries, including skin grafts and seven months in hospital, Gulshan has been fitted with her first prosthesis.

Her goal was to be able to stand up and walk a year after the accident. Not only has she achieved that, but now has the courage to attempt the guided climb over the 50m-high roof of the iconic O2 building in south-east London with other Amputees. The climb is via a fabric walkway over the roof.

Gulshan, Lewis and Jenny are all supporting this Limbless Association's fund raising event to help their vision of empowering all amputees to lead independent and fulfilled lives. No Amputee need cope alone.

You can donate via Gulshan's Just Giving Page.
