HASAG legal panel members attempt the HASAG Kili Climb

Week 3 UPDATE

In an incredible effort, the team has crossed the finishing line with a whopping 6,264 flights of stairs climbed, equivalent to roughly 2.5 ascents of Mount Kilimanjaro. In the spirit of transparency, we should also report that the London team managed 0.5 of an ascent, with the Manchester 'team' (consisting of ultra-runner Bridget Collier) completing 2 ascents. And in a somewhat cruel twist, however, the organisers have extended the deadline so that the winner will be the team with the highest number of climbs by 31st July. Gives us a little more time to donate…

"Led Steppelin", Fieldfisher's mesothelioma team, has joined other law firms on the HASAG legal panel in a fundraising initiative to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Because of Lockdown the climbers will be doing this virtually.

The challenge, optimistically accepted by the team, involves completing 37,000 steps or 2,578 flights of stairs over four weeks, equivalent to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania – the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world at 5,895 metres above sea level. The team who completes the challenge in the quickest time wins the challenge.

At the time of writing, Led Steppelin lies second of six with 1,483 steps – so clearly has some way to go!

Donations can be made on the Kili Climb fundraising page.

Andrew Morgan said: "HASAG continues to lead impressive fund-raising initiatives to support its fantastic work with the asbestos disease community. As ever, we're pleased to pledge our support. Our "Led Steppers" are climbing the stairways to victory!"
