Collideoscope – the most comprehensive bicycle accident databank?

A new web app has been developed which might become the most comprehensive database on cycling accidents. Colliedeoscope allows cyclists involved in accidents to record what happened via the application so that people can see where the accident hotspots are. The app also allows people to record near misses, and by recording these could lead to potential deathtraps being spotted and fixed by the authorities before something serious happens. This could ultimately lead to a far richer database than that recorded by the police.

Barts and the London Charity will be using this data which will in turn be fed into the Bespoke project, a collaboration between the research teams of the Orthopaedic and Emergency Departments of Barts Health NHS Trust, and with Barts Charity, ITP and mySociety to explore bicycle related injuries in London.
