Settlement for asbestosis that caused disability
George, who is 83, is retired but he was exposed to asbestos when he worked for Darlingtons Insulations and Structural Linings between 1964 and 1972.
George's illness has had an effect on his day to day living. He can no longer walk more than 100 yards without having to rest and feels tired regularly.
He is unable to do odd jobs and the gardening and has to employ a handy man for any DIY jobs and a gardener to maintain his garden.
Before his illness George would help around the house with cleaning and hoovering. He would also do the weekly shopping with his partner, but now he has to wait in the car whilst she does the shopping. Dushal Mehta pursued the insurers for Darlingtons and a settlement of £ 60,000 was agreed.
