Michelle was waiting for a train at West Hampstead Train Station in March 2008. She was on the phone to her mother when she was suddenly hit by a large advertising board which had fallen onto her and onto the platform.
Michelle sustained injuries to her head, arm and back. She also fractured her right thigh. She was taken to hospital and underwent surgery to repair the fracture by inserting screws the following day. Michelle was left with permanent scars and required physiotherapy from May 2008.
Although her leg injuries improved, her buttocks, hip and knee continued to cause her pain. She had the screws surgically removed from her leg in February 2009.
At the time of the accident Michelle was working as an assistant psychologist and, initially, was unable to return to her job. Michelle has since started a PHD course at Oxford.
Richard Earle investigated a no win no fee personal injury claim for Michelle. He issued proceedings but was able to settle the case without the need to go to trial and Michelle received £54,000 compensation.
