Nuria Pastor, Senior Associate, Privacy and Information, Fieldfisher

I am a senior associate in the Fieldfisher's privacy and information team, having joined the firm in 2007. I am a data protection specialist, CiPP/E certified and a dually qualified English solicitor and Spanish abogada.

I have relevant experience in advising in a range of both national (UK and Spain) and international privacy related matters. They include: International data transfers (incl. BCR and BSPR); applicable law; controller v. processor role assessments; anti-spam laws; data security; clod computing; whistleblowing schemes; data protection registrations and the comparative analysis of different data protection regimes. I have also provided advice to clients in the context of enforcement actions by the Spanish and the UK data protection regulators.

I was seconded part-time for one year at a leading global education service provider where I acted as an interim data protection officer. My role involved the undertaking of a data protection audit across the organisation.

I have experience in the following sectors: Energy and natural resources; hotels, retail & leisure; technology, media & telecommunications and life science & healthcare.

I am a member of the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) and the APEP (Spanish Association of Privacy Professionals. I was a member of the Board of Directors of the APEP for a year (2013-2013).

I have spoken at a number of events and written for specialist privacy publications, including the firm's Privacy and Information Law blog and Privacy Laws & Business. I am a co-author of the European Privacy, Land and Practice for Data Protection Professionals, an IAPP Publication. I assisted in the editing of Data Protection Laws of the Word (Sweet & Maxwell) between 2008 and 2009.

Before joining the firm, I spent several years working for a leading Spanish law firm in Barcelona.

In my spare time I can be found in the in the kitchen with Jamie (Oliver) or enjoying the outdoors.
