Nicholas Noble, Partner, Tax and Structuring

Nicholas Noble, Partner, Tax and Structuring, Fieldfisher

I am a specialist in the taxation of funds and financial transactions and I am head of the Fieldfisher funds and financial transactions taxation group.

As regards the taxation of funds, I made one of the first genuine diversity of ownership clearance applications to HMRC and the first capital gains clearance application to HMRC for mergers of funds under the new legislation in June 2013.  I was responsible for the introduction of new legislation making it easier to merge non-reporting offshore funds into reporting offshore funds without a tax charge.

I advise on the tax structuring of new funds from traditional securities funds to caravan park and media funds and on the merger and reconstruction of existing funds.

I was a member of the Treasury Committee which introduced funds of alternative investment funds (FAIFs) and which were subsequently renamed FINROFs.

I also advise on financial transactions from stock loans and repos to structuring financial products.  I was a member of the ISDA Tax Committee dealing with Credit Support Annex.

I regularly talk at seminars and write books on taxation matters regarding the taxation of Funds and financial transactions.  I was the co-author of Butterworths International Taxation of Financial Instruments and Transactions.  I am currently writing the tax chapters on what will be standard books on stock loans and repos.

Chambers UK 2105 says I am a "strong tax practitioner" and have an "extremely sharp brain and knows what will and will not fly"
