I am an associate in the employment and pensions team and have experience of a broad range of contentious and non-contentious work. I particularly enjoy advising on areas where the law is developing.
I assist employer clients to understand and negotiate difficult issues around data protection and privacy, particularly where those issues have an effect on the employment relationship. I also have experience of advising on industrial relations, TUPE, discrimination and whistleblowing matters.
I have a particular interest in the technology sector and also frequently advise clients involved in rail and infrastructure, healthcare, finance and media.
My recent experience includes advising a multinational rail operator through, and following, a difficult contract win, involving the transfer in of staff and a significant industrial dispute which led to proposed strike action. I have also recently acted in a high value, multi-jurisdiction race discrimination claim which involved the application of complex foreign legislation on data protection and privacy.
I have appeared on BBC World to discuss the implications of a European Court of Justice judgment on cross-border transfers of personal data.
I regularly speak at public and bespoke training seminars and publish employment and privacy related posts on the team’s blog. I have also provided training to a number of cross-discipline teams at clients on the privacy implications of handling employee data and dealing with subject access requests.
In my spare time I enjoy watching and playing sport, particularly rugby and football. I am also a keen runner.
