Christopher Leung, Solicitor, Intellectual Property
I am a solicitor in the IP and Technology Protection and Enforcement Group at Fieldfisher. My experience spans a broad range of IP rights including patents and SPCs, trade marks, copyright, database rights and domain names, but I have a particular interest in patent litigation in the life sciences field. Cases I have been involved in include Sandoz Ltd & Anor v G.D. Searle LLC & Anor (SPCs – antiretroviral medication), in both the Patents Court and the Court of Appeal, and Karen Millen v Karen Millen Fashions Ltd & Anor (trade marks – use of own name).
I trained at Fieldfisher, during which time I spent two of my four training seats in the IP Group. Prior to joining Fieldfisher, I studied chemistry at Imperial College London and spent two years working at a top-ranked patent litigation firm. This background has come in helpful in cases with technical elements, for example those involving pharmaceuticals and Markush formulae. In 2017 I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford.
Outside of work my interests include travelling and skiing.
